What is SongTyping?
SongTyping is a lyrics typing game and typing practice app that lets you improve your typing speed and accuracy by typing along to the lyrics of your favorite songs. Choose a song, start typing, and watch your words per minute climb.
Our mission
Most typing trainers ask you to copy out dull sample paragraphs. We think practice sticks better when it's fun. SongTyping turns something you already enjoy (listening to music) into deliberate typing practice. The rhythm of a song gives you a natural pace to type to, familiar lyrics keep you engaged for longer sessions, and the synced video keeps your eyes on the screen instead of the keyboard. Our goal is simple: help people build real, lasting typing speed and accuracy without it feeling like a chore.
Who's behind it
SongTyping is an independent project, not affiliated with any record label, artist, or lyrics provider. The practice experience, game mechanics, statistics, and the written guides on our blog are all our own work; the songs are gathered from public sources. If you have feedback, a bug report, or a song you'd love to see added, we genuinely want to hear it, so get in touch. Running it costs real money - mostly the paid lookups that fetch lyrics and caption timings the first time anyone opens a new song - and that is covered by passes and by advertising, not by selling anything about you.
Where our lyrics come from
The lyrics you type are sourced from public third-party services such as Genius, LRClib, and YouTube captions, and remain the property of their respective owners. We show them as the material for a typing exercise rather than as a lyrics library - you type one line at a time against the audio, and the source is credited on every song. SongTyping is a commercial site, paid for by passes and advertising, and we would rather say so than claim otherwise. If you're a rights holder and would rather your work wasn't here, our Copyright & DMCA policy is the fastest route to someone who can act on it.

- See your WPM, accuracy, weak letters, and stats at the end

- Found a song with wrong lyrics or timings that drift out of sync? Tell us which song through the contact form. Those reports are the main way sync bugs get found.
